Security Cameras · On-site & low-voltage

Cameras are only useful
when you need the footage.

Most systems get judged once — the morning after something happens. That's when you find out whether the camera was pointed at the right door, whether the footage is still there, and whether anyone can actually get to it. We design, cable, install, and manage camera systems so that morning is uneventful.

01 · The problem

The system works right up until it matters.

Cameras get bought as boxes, not as a design. Someone counts doors, orders that many cameras, and mounts them where the ladder reached. The result looks like coverage on the wall and behaves like a gap on the recording. What we walk into most often:

Footage recorded, but overwritten before anyone thought to pull it
Cameras aimed at wide parking lots where a person is eleven unusable pixels
A recorder in an unlocked closet — the first thing taken in a break-in
Every camera sitting on the same flat network as workstations and the file server
The vendor who installed it four years ago no longer answering the phone
Nobody on staff with the login, or a login shared by everyone

None of that shows up on a normal day. All of it shows up on the day you need footage for an insurance claim, a police report, or an HR conversation.

02 · What we deploy

Designed for the site, not the invoice.

Site design and camera placement

We walk the property before quoting. Entrances, exits, registers, docks, cash handling, server rooms, gates, and the specific sight lines you care about. Each camera gets a purpose and a field of view — identification at close range, activity awareness at distance — and you see it marked on a plan before anything gets ordered.

Indoor coverage

Lobbies, hallways, production floors, retail spaces, and back-of-house. Mounting chosen for the ceiling and the environment you actually have — open plenum, hard lid, dusty shop, cold storage.

Outdoor and perimeter

Weather-rated cameras for entries, lots, yards, gates, and loading areas, with low-light performance and lens selection matched to distance. Utah winters and south-facing glare both get accounted for in the design.

Structured cabling and power

PoE cabling run cleanly, terminated properly, plenum-rated where code requires it, and documented. Camera runs land on switch ports with enough PoE budget to carry them, including in an outage if you have UPS or generator backing.

Recording and retention

On-premise recording sized to the retention window you need, not the one the box happens to give you. Storage lives somewhere physically secure, and we tell you in plain terms how many days you're keeping before it recycles.

Network segmentation

Cameras and recorders go on their own VLAN with rules that keep them off the rest of your network. A camera is an internet-connected computer with a lens; it doesn't need to reach your accounting server, and it won't.

Remote and mobile access

Secure access to live and recorded footage from a phone or browser, with per-user accounts and permissions — so the manager who needs the front register doesn't get the whole system, and departures can be revoked cleanly.

Ongoing monitoring and support

Firmware managed on a schedule. Alerts when a camera stops reporting or a disk starts failing, so you find out from us rather than from an empty timeline three weeks later.

03 · Platform

UniFi Protect, and honesty about where it fits.

We're Ubiquiti UniFi specialists, which means we know its limits as well as its strengths. UniFi Protect puts cameras, recording, and access control in the same console as your switching, Wi-Fi, and firewall — one login, one vendor, no per-camera licensing to renew. For most small and mid-sized businesses that's the right answer, and it's what we deploy by default.

Where it isn't the right answer, we say so. Sites with heavy existing investment in another platform, environments with specialized analytics or regulatory requirements, and some very large or high-count deployments are better served elsewhere — and we'll design and support those too.

Either way the design is documented independently of the hardware, so the platform choice stays reversible instead of becoming a trap.

04 · Scoping

What you're actually deciding.

Four questions drive nearly every camera design. Answer them and the bill of materials mostly writes itself.

What must you be able to prove?

WHY IT CHANGES THE DESIGN Identifying a face at a counter and noticing a truck in a yard need different cameras in different places.

How far back do you need to look?

WHY IT CHANGES THE DESIGN Retention drives storage more than camera count does. A week and ninety days are different systems.

Who needs to see it, and from where?

WHY IT CHANGES THE DESIGN On-site only, or phones and remote managers — this decides access design and account structure.

What's the building made of?

WHY IT CHANGES THE DESIGN Concrete, metal, tall ceilings, and long outdoor runs all change cabling, mounting, and cost.

Answer those honestly and you avoid the two most common outcomes: paying for cameras that don't answer your question, or discovering the footage expired the day before you needed it.

05 · How we engage

Three ways to start.

01 · ASSESS

Site walk and coverage review

Site walk, coverage review, and a look at existing cameras, cabling, switching, and recording. You get a marked-up plan, a camera-by-camera purpose list, a retention recommendation, and a bill of materials. If your current system is salvageable, we'll tell you that instead of replacing it.

02 · DEPLOY

Cable, mount, configure

Cabling, mounting, PoE and switch provisioning, VLAN and firewall rules, recorder setup, retention configuration, user accounts, and remote access. Scheduled around your operation — we don't run ladders through a retail floor on a Saturday or re-cable a production line mid-shift.

03 · OPERATE

Monitored and supported

Firmware and health monitoring, storage alerting, account changes as staff turn over, footage retrieval when you need an export for an insurer or investigator, and adjustments as the building or the risk changes.

06 · Rollout

From walk-through to working system.

1

Site walk

We come on site with you, not with a catalog. What has happened before, what worries you, what the insurer or franchise agreement requires, where the blind spots are.

2

Design

Camera count, placement, mounting height, lens and field of view per camera, cable routing, PoE and switch requirements, recorder sizing for your retention target. Delivered as a marked-up floor plan plus a materials list.

3

Cabling

Low-voltage runs pulled, terminated, tested, and labeled. Existing usable cable gets reused where it tests clean; we don't tear out what works.

4

Install and configure

Cameras mounted and aimed, recorder installed in a secured location, VLAN and rules applied, retention set, accounts created with the right permissions.

5

Validation and handoff

We review every camera view with you on screen, confirm night performance, verify recording and retention, and hand over documentation and credentials. You own the system and the logins — not us.

6

Ongoing

Monitoring, firmware, storage health, and support. When something happens, you call the engineers who installed it.

07 · Fit

Where this pays for itself.

Manufacturing and warehousing

Docks, yards, gates, and floor safety, with cameras that survive dust and cold.

Retail and food service

Registers, back doors, coolers, and stock rooms; shrink and slip-and-fall claims both need footage.

Professional offices

Entry doors, reception, and server rooms, with footage handled discreetly.

Clinics and dental

Entrances, waiting areas, and medication storage, with camera placement chosen carefully around patient privacy.

Municipalities and public facilities

Parks, shops, and buildings across several sites under one console.

Multi-site businesses

One standard, one login, and consistent coverage at every location.

Property and facility managers

Common areas, parking, and after-hours access across buildings.

Anyone replacing an orphaned system

An old recorder, a vendor who's gone, and nobody with the password.

08 · What cameras don't do

Straight talk before you buy.

Cameras record. They don't prevent. They deter some behavior and they document almost all of it, but a camera has never stopped anyone mid-act. Pair them with door access, lighting, and locks.

Nobody is watching your live feed. We monitor system health — cameras online, disks healthy, firmware current. We are not a staffed guard station watching your video, and we'll say so plainly rather than let you assume otherwise.

Retention is a real cost. More cameras, higher resolution, and longer retention all consume storage. Ninety days of high-resolution footage across thirty cameras is a meaningfully different system than two weeks across eight. We'd rather have that conversation during design than after.

Coverage has edges. No practical system covers every square foot. We prioritize what matters and tell you where the gaps are, so you know rather than assume.

Audio and privacy have rules. Recording audio, and placing cameras in areas employees expect to be private, carry legal and HR considerations that vary. We flag where those questions arise and recommend you get an answer from your attorney or HR before we install — we're not the ones to give that advice.

09 · FAQ

Common questions

Can you use my existing cameras?

Sometimes. If the cabling is good and the cameras are a supported standard, we'll often keep part of the system and replace only what's failing or badly placed. We'll tell you honestly after the site walk which is cheaper over five years.

Who owns the footage and the logins?

You do. We document credentials and hand them over. We hold access to support the system, and you can revoke it.

Can I see the cameras from my phone?

Yes, with an account scoped to what you should see. Individual permissions mean a shift lead can view the areas they are responsible for without holding the keys to the whole system.

How long is footage kept?

As long as the storage we size for. We set that target with you during design and tell you the real number rather than a marketing figure.

What happens if a camera or drive fails?

Health monitoring flags it and we schedule the fix. That's the whole point of monitoring the system rather than just installing it.

Do you do door access too?

Yes — on the same platform and the same console.

Do you serve my area?

Cache Valley, Box Elder County, the Wasatch Front, and southern Idaho. Logan, Hyde Park, Smithfield, Brigham City, Tremonton, Preston, and surrounding communities — and we travel further out for the right install project.

Let's walk the building.

We'll look at what you have, what you're actually trying to protect, and where the blind spots are — then give you a plan and a real number before anything gets ordered.
